With so many do’s and don’ts with feeding our dogs, it gets especially tricky when it comes to human food. So how about biscuits? Is your pup allowed to have a few crumbs of everyone’s snack time favorite?
The short answer to that question is maybe. This is because generally, biscuits itself are not actually dangerous for your dog. At the same time however, it does not have any nutritional value. Therefore, biscuits can be given to your furry friend as a treat, but should only be in moderation and should never be a substitute for food that is actually approved for your pet.
And although it is deemed safe for your dogs to eat, make sure to keep note that there are certain exceptions to this. Similar to humans, there may be pets who are allergic or may be sensitive to grains.
If need be, there are grain free biscuits that are specially made for dogs that should be safe to eat, but make sure to observe the status of your dog. As a rule, biscuits are okay, but in moderation and although there is no real risk to feeding your dog a biscuit every now and then, you know your pet best and you have the final say on what is okay.
If you have any concerns that are specific to your pet, never be afraid to consult your veterinarian.
